Job Summary The Finance Lead is responsible to monitor the day-to-day financial operations and the strategic financial requirements within the company, to ensure the flow of accurate and timeous financial data to the company stake holders and external regulators. Cashflow / Treasury: Implement and maintain treasury policies and procedures for the cash up and cash handling at a store level Constantly improve the cash ups process in response to changes in the business environment Oversee the checking of the cash ups at a head office level Ensure that all cash and credit card sales are timeously banked Report and follow up on variances noted, i.e., Cashier shortages, voids, etc., take corrective measures where necessary Petty cash management implement controls to prevent petty cash abuse. Follow up on variances Pro-actively deal with any problems that may arise from above Budgeting: Assist the CEO in the budgeting and planning process Prepare monthly analysis of income and expenditure against prior year and budget, providing explanations and business solutions to help mitigate the risks Ensure all expenditure is tracked and reported and manage accruals efficiently Finance and Admin: Implement and maintain accounting and administrative policies and procedures for financial activities including financial accounting and reporting Understand and adhere to financial regulations and legislation Ensure financial governance, internal controls and compliance to the Groups standards and reporting requirements are achieved in the specific timeline Assist decision making by providing accurate, timely and reliable financial information Keep the GM fully aware of all financial related matters that may impact on the business on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis Develop standard and new accounting procedures to improve financial operations efficiency Present financial reports to board members, stakeholders, executives, and clients in formal meetings Ensure all statutory payments (e.g., income tax, VAT) are made accurately and before deadline to ensure the Group companies are not penalised in any way Ensure that the regulatory requirements of all statutory bodies are met Review financial data and prepare monthly and annual reports Establish and maintain financial policies and procedures for the company Reputation and Relationships: Form a good working relationship with heads of departments and Senior Executives and Non-Executives Relate to external parties in a manner that builds the brand and reputation as an organisation of integrity and efficiency IT: Stay up to date with technological advances and accounting software to be used for financial purposes Review financial systems to ensure that system improvements are implemented Ensure the business runs effectively through a systematic approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance HR: Oversee all payroll functionality and administration Ensure that the Finance and Administration departments are resourced with trained and committed staff Effectively manage the performance and conduct of the Finance and Administration departments staff Ensure all HR related statutory payments (e.g., PAYE, Workmens Compensation, Skills Development Levy) are made accurately and before deadline to ensure the Group of companies are not penalised in any way Implement and maintain time keeping policies and procedures to ensure that all staff are accurately paid for hours worked Special Projects: Assist the Group CFO with providing the necessary expertise and information when required for special projects Stock Management: Implement and maintain stock policies and procedures for all aspects of the stock management, i.e., Ordering, receiving, counting, transferring, etc Standardise the methodology of daily, weekly, monthly, annual count procedures Oversee the investigation of stock variances Report and follow up on variances noted to the operations team Pro-actively adjust the procedures / controls to counter common variances identified People Management: Ensure that the Finance and Administration departments are resourced with trained and committed staff Effectively manage the performance and conduct of the Finance and Administration departments staff Behavioural Competencies: An understanding of the accounting, decision support models, operations and financial levers that drive profit, loss, and customer experience Ability to translate business needs and goals into analytic approach and response Strong analytical and critical thinking, using data to inform decisions Ability to present ideas succinctly, in writing and verbally Highly structured thinker with exceptional attention to detail Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment Work under pressure Deadline driven Comfortable with constant change Strong written and excellent verbal communication skills Logical, systematic approach to understanding and improving processes Always strives to promote and deliver the highest level of quality and integrity Qualifications and experience: B.Com Accounting (Hons) Degree SAICA Articles CA(SA)/MBA/CIMA Advantageous 7 to 10 Years in a Leadership Position in Finance At least 5 years experience in a multi-site Retail or Restaurant environment, QSR Advantageous Stock environment experience required Must have experience working for an SME / Owner run business Salary - R1 mill - R1.5 mill pa CTC
