We are seeking a Head Chef to join our team in Camps Bay, responsible for developing innovative menus, maintaining the highest standards of food quality and presentation, and ensuring exceptional guest satisfaction.
About the Role
As Head Chef, you will oversee the entire culinary operation, ensuring smooth running of the kitchen while maintaining strict hygiene, stock control, and waste management. You will lead, train, and inspire your team to deliver world-class culinary experiences that align with the property's gastronomical standards and pricing framework.

Key Responsibilities
Management & Leadership
Lead, train, motivate, and develop kitchen staff to exceed food preparation standards.
Implement and enforce hygiene protocols and safety standards.
Foster a positive work environment and provide professional guidance, counselling, and coaching.
Manage kitchen supervisors with regard to performance management, discipline, and development.
Ensure effective communication within the kitchen and with other departments.
Cascade information from Group Support Services and report incidents or changes affecting operations.
Operations & Culinary Excellence
Develop and implement creative, innovative, and high-quality recipes and menus that suit the property's brand and price range.
Ensure consistent food quality, presentation, and flavour across all dishes.
Handle culinary guest complaints efficiently and professionally.
Maintain comprehensive hygiene protocols to protect staff and guests.
Administration & Financial Management
Manage food orders to prevent wastage and stockouts; compare suppliers to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
Maintain food labelling, storage, and inventory protocols.
Monitor waste management programs and food costs to stay within budget.
Price menu items competitively while ensuring optimal package potentials and headcounts.
Human Resources & Staff Development
Follow correct recruitment procedures for all kitchen hires.
Conduct regular on-the-job training, coaching, probation reviews, and performance evaluations.
Maintain staff files, enforce dress codes, and apply discipline fairly.
Stand in as Duty Manager or senior manager when required, including night shifts.
Minimum Requirements
Minimum Requirements
Matric plus a relevant Culinary Qualification
Minimum 2 years in a similar Head Chef role within a 4-5 star hotel
Familiarity with all hotel kitchen duties and operations
Strong verbal communication and comprehension skills
Analytical thinking, decision-making, and judgement
Self-management, stress tolerance, and attention to detail
Influencing others, teamwork, and business alignment
Strategic vision and leadership qualities
