Our client is seeking a Hardware Engineering Manager who will be responsible to design from proof of concept, develop, test prototypes to meet internal and or external client requirements which includes determining not only the hardware but firmware, components, etc. Ability to lead a team of hardware engineers to develop and test to acceptance, and to meet hardware
deliverables within the Aerospace Domain in Cape Town South Africa.

Area: Cape Town (Airport City)

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or similar
• Minimum 5-8yearsxe2x80x99 experience in Hardware Design Engineering
• Minimum 5 years in Senior position of a Hardware Design team
• Proficiency in Autocad, Altium, Matlab
• Experience in HDL (VHDL, etc)
• Sound understanding of software integration on HW platforms
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail, precision, quality and deadline driven

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (duties are not limited to):

• Determine hardware requirements by meeting with design and engineering team members;
• Maintain component library with schematic symbols, package dimensions, and specifications;
• Develop complete architecture for hardware component systems (utilising the scope of work set out the design of the hardware component system, component selections, various tests, etc);
• Design, layout, test and validate printed circuit boards (PCB);
• Ensure compatibility and integration with software by collaborating with SW team;
• Testing HW prototypes, analysing and interpreting outcomes;
• Provide guidance assistance and where applicable - diagnose and resolve bugs / errors / malfunctions and implement / recommend corrective measures/ modifications, as well as repairs and maintenance where required;
• Ensuring traceability at all times;
• Decision making on hardware engineering tools (testing, etc);
• Custom hardware tests & tools, test benches, casings, etc;
• Sourcing of hardware requirements, implementing procurement process where applicable;
• Review team / peer work and provide constructive comments;
• Oversee and consult during manufacturing processes ensuring that design specifications are met;
• Keeping abreast of latest technology and designs.
