A well-established guest house in Pinelands requires a Shift Manager with a warm, hands-on approach. If you love cooking, baking, and thrive in a homely, guest-facing environment, this could be your perfect fit. Two rotational shifts 6am - 2pm and 11am -7pm Monday to Friday. 2 weekends per month. Permanent, R15 000 per month. To start asap.
Key Responsibilities:
Guest Interaction & Front of House:
Open the guest house by 06:00, serve breakfast from 06:30 (Monday to Friday)
Welcome and check guests in/out, assist with personal needs
Complete guest registration forms and manage reservations
Create a friendly, "home away from home" atmosphere
Ensure guest satisfaction and resolve queries promptly
Handle emails and general admin
Oversee parking arrangements and guest flow
Food Preparation & Meal Planning:
Prepare and serve fresh fruit and cooked breakfasts (morning shift)
Plan and prepare traditional lunches / dinners for guests when required
Understand and cater for various dietary needs
Shop for groceries daily and assist with monthly bulk shopping
Work with the owner on menu planning and cost estimation
Housekeeping Oversight:
Supervise 23 domestic workers and 1 gardener
Manage schedules and keep attendance registers
Conduct daily room inspections and ensure high housekeeping standards
Oversee monthly linen and towel inspections and stock take
Order supplies and manage inventory
Report maintenance issues and follow up on repairs
Maintain overall tidiness and cleanliness of the property
Finance & Admin:
Maintain petty cash records
Manage honesty bar slips and submit for invoicing if unpaid
Collect guest feedback and maintain guest database
Requirements

• Driver's license and own vehicle

• Must enjoy interacting with guests

• Must enjoy cooking and baking traditional meals and desserts

• Hospitality or similar experience is essential

• Reside in the surrounding areas to Pinelands

• Understand varied dietary requirements and preferences

• Breakfast is cooked and served by the morning shift person
