An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Grow-On Manager at I&J, Danger Point, Gansbaai. The purpose of this role is to manage the effective management of the Grow-On department and co-ordinate the supervisors with the reference to feeding, cleaning, human resources support, and stock control of the biological asset on the farm. This includes long term planning allocations of batches of product types on the farm, and various harvest predictions and forecasting.

Job Specification:

Key Performance Areas:
Manage and co-ordinate farm, animal husbandry practices and stock grading
Ensure procedure and manuals are followed and up to date
Split planning with each farm supervisor
Stock allocation and quantities for Harvest are correct
Ensure HACCP, Hygiene and Bio-security measures are followed
Ensure weekly feedback/planning meetings are taking place
Monthly planning of stock to be sampled for growth rates
Correlate with R&D facilitator on experiments required and outcome
Plan feeding quantities for relevant Platforms

Long Term (4-5 years) stock product allocations according to historical batch performance
Ensure that production pipeline is adequately stocked for each product type
Correct batches allocated for correct products according to historical and current batch performances
Liaison with marketing teams
Prediction of harvest-able biomass

Manage compliance of HACCP, Biosecurity, Hygiene and Risk according to farm policies and procedure
Enforcing of all the regulation relating to the grade shed
Monitoring and communicating quality issues with QA and packing department
The monitoring and enforcing of all procedures, and the disciplining of staff regarding procedures when required
Ensuring animal quality
Determination of relevant farm policies and procedures for grade sheds
Implementation of relevant farm policies and procedures for the grade sheds
Upholding standards in the Grade shed in accordance with Audits and Findings

Implementation and Management of Production Budgets
Strategic budget planning
Budget Implementation
Budget Assessment
Capital Expenditure Budgeting and Motivating

Staff Management
Provide in-house training to all staff
Ensure all procedures and policies are adhered to
Discipline where needed
Time Management of staff

Minimum Requirements:

Experience:
1-2 years experience in a similar environment a prerequisite
Post graduate degree/Masters degree in Sciences with specific reference to Aquaculture preferred
Agriculture, Forestry or Fishing industry exposure

Qualifications:
BSc in Science / Aquaculture qualification
