Our client in the Engineering industry is currently looking for a Mine Manager, in Thabazimbi.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the overall production of Andalusite concentrates within the various economic constraints and by complying with the environmental, health, safety and labour regulations pertaining to the Mining Industry.
• Ensure health and safety functions required of the employer are carried out in terms of Section 3(1)(a) of the MHSA, including all mandatory Code of Practices, risk assessment programmes, occupational hygiene programmes and any other programmes required to ensure effective environmental, health and safety management.
• Ensure that all applicable statutory requirements are met in terms of labour, environment, health and safety.
• Update scheduling of production (monthly) according to the market demand.
• Update budget and forecast scheduling of production (monthly) according to the market demand.
• Set up and maintain processes to optimise productivity, throughout and availability.
• Continuously adapt workforce to operational requirements to ensure optimum ROI.
• Define major investment opportunities to improve productivity.
• Ensure the sustainability of the mine operation by ensuring mining exploration are continued to identify ore deposits, and prepared, adapting to product changes and requirements in the market.
• Ensure, daily, the cost control of all operations comply with approved cost budgets.
• Responsible to submit to the Board, annually, for approval:
• Implementation and management of an annual exploration and mining plan.
• Capital and operational cost budget.
• Staffing and training requirements.
• Product production plans.
• Rehabilitation plans and as per the approved environmental management programme.
• Ensure proper maintenance are carried out to minimize downtime and maximise working efficiency of equipment and processes.
• Co-ordinate the requirements for the annual shutdown.
• Take part in the continuous improvement actions of the company in terms of quality, services and processes.
• Ensure proper application of ISO procedures at the mine.
• Assist with Negotiate all required contracts with suppliers to the mine e.g., mining, tailings and waste management, security, etc.
• Deal with the Department of Minerals and Energy regarding all mining related operational matters.
• Execute and control all social responsibilities placed on the mine with regards to the approved Social and Labour Plan.
• Recruit, train, mentor, discipline and motivate workforce when appropriate.
• Budgeting.
• Managing KPI's.
• Overseeing CSI projects.
• Overseeing I-Cube on site.
• Delegate social welfare on the site (TB, HIV, etc).
• Inventory management.
• Quality management.
• Supply chain management.
• Asset control and management.
• Project Manager - Site Capex projects.
• Follow-up of key projects.
• Evaluate weekly flash reports.

• Degree in Production/Operations Management or Mining Engineering.
• At least 15 years management level experience in production, preferably metallurgical or geological, environment with multiple operational functions (Production, Industrial Relations, Maintenance/Engineering, mining).
• Driverxe2x80x99s licence is essential.
• Knowledge of production environment and demands placed on manager with regards to a continuous, high-volume process.
• Strong leadership qualities required in a unionised environment.
• Good managerial skills required, especially with regards to assertiveness, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
• Continuous planning of people, process and output requirements to meet ever-changing customer needs and expectations.
• Able to work under pressure and to meet deadlines.
• Strong personality required to deal with daily stresses in the form of statutory requirements, managerial pressure, staff expectations and social responsibilities.
• Hands-on management skills required.
