Midrand Christian College is a co-educational, independent day school located in Midrand. It was founded in 2009 with the purpose of promoting physical, emotional, intellectual, social, and spiritual growth. The school is a Cambridge Associate School and is registered with the Department of Education.

Job Title: Grade 2 Teacher



Level: Cambridge Primary



Location: Halfway House, Midrand



Reports to: School Principal



Start Date: 15 January 2026 or earlier.



Job Summary:



The Grade 2 Teacher is responsible for building on foundational learning by strengthening literacy, numeracy, and critical thinking skills in line with the Cambridge Primary framework. The role requires a dynamic educator who supports learners' academic growth while fostering independence, confidence, and moral development.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:



Bachelor's Degree in Education (Foundation Phase or Intermediate Phase) or related field. Recognised teaching qualification. Minimum of 3-5 years' experience teaching Grade 2. Experience with the Cambridge Primary curriculum. Valid registration with the South African Council of Educators (SACE).

Minimum Duties and Responsibilities:



Must be able to demonstrate the values of integrity, respect, and collaboration. Plan and deliver engaging Grade 2 lessons in literacy, numeracy, and life skills aligned with curriculum requirements. Strengthen learners' reading, writing, numeracy, and problem-solving skills. Apply differentiated instruction to address varying learner abilities. Administer assessments, track progress, and prepare detailed learner reports. Create an engaging and orderly classroom environment that promotes learner responsibility. Communicate effectively with parents regarding academic and behavioural progress. Integrate technology, visual aids, and hands-on activities into lesson delivery. Participate in extracurricular activities, school functions, and spiritual development programmes. Maintain learner records, attendance, and academic documentation. Engage in ongoing professional development and collaborative planning.
