Job Summary

Our client has an opportunity available for a Geologist.

Requirements:

BSc Honours degree in Geology- essential
Registration as a professional scientist from the SA Council for Natural Scientific.
Professionals will be preferable.
1 to 3+ years underground mining geology experience- essential.
Valid medical certificate or be medical fit to obtain such a certificate.
Computer literate.

Responsibilities:

Scientifically identify and forecast ore body or mineral reserves and formations per geological area.
Ensure effective and value-adding geological modelling is maintained, inclusive of forecast updates.
Provide professional advice and integrated communication to production and other mining disciplines for present and future mining.
Facilitate integrated participation in the planning and geological exploration of new mining areas.
Constantly monitor geological conditions to ensure efficient, economical and progressive mining.
Guide and manage the geological function of an operating unit, inclusive of managing
Geologists and contractors effectively.
Compile standardized geological reports for management information purposes.
Effectively manage core drilling operations.

This is a 6-month Fixed Term Contract position.
