Job Description

Our client in the Engineering consulting industry is currently looking for a Senior Geologist to join their department in Pretoria or Cape Town.

Responsibilities:

• Provide a mix of technical delivery and project management, but with significant focus on problem solving, analysis and design.
• Be responsible for winning work for the broader geotechnical team, as well as building and maintaining strong client relationships.
• Regular interaction with external clients in the planning of projects and/or the completing of projects is required.
• The ability to provide mentoring and technical guidance for younger engineers and engineering geologists.

• Minimum BEng (Civil) or BSc (Civil) Engineering degree; Preferably have an MSc level qualification (or higher) in Geotechnical Engineering.
• Minimum of 2 - 4+ yearsxe2x80x99 full-time experience in Geotechnical Engineering.
• To collaboratively work with engineers and engineering geologists with analysis of information, production of designs and computations, field investigations, construction supervision, etc.
• Demonstrate ability to communicate clearly and prepare detailed reports or sections of reports and calculation documentation of a high standard is required.
• Have excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with excellent command of English (as a minimum.)
• Skills are required in geotechnical analysis software packages including the latest analysis methods and software. Experience using finite element numerical modelling packages would be a benefit.
• An understanding of soil mechanics as well as experience in foundation design, settlement assessments, slope stability analyses, bearing capacity etc would be beneficial.
• Flexibility around working hours and ability to travel freely is a requirement.

• R400 000 - R650 000 CTC per annum.
