Job Description

Purpose: To lead and direct the division with responsibility for divisional strategy, inspections, type approval, assessments, drafting of



technical regulations, corporate governance and risk management, people management and ensuring that all relevant legislation is compiled to.



KPA/ Key outputs:


Lead and Direct the Division including
Business Planning, Strategy Development and

Improvements
Lead and Manage the Division
Establish and Maintain Strategic Partnerships

with Government Departments, Industry and

Foreign Missions
Oversee the monitoring of compliance of
Products Regulated to the Relevant Legislation
Facilitate the Development and Amendments
of Technical Regulations in the Accountable

Field
Lead and Direct the Harmonisation of
Technical Regulations and Participate in

National, Regional and International Forums
Oversee and Take Accountability for the
Accreditation of Inspections, Type Approvals,

Calibration and Assessment Functions for the

Accountable Field
People Management Financial Management Corporate Governance and Risk Management


Requirements/ Experience:




B Tech or B Degree (NQF level 7) in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or in related engineering or science Postgraduate qualification in above fields or Business Management provides added advantage. 10 years in the related field, of which 5 years have been at management level and Senior Management experience will be advantageous.

Knowledge and Skills:




In-depth knowledge of the legislation and regulations related to the accountable field. Indepth knowledge of Legal Metrology Technical Regulations and others relating to the field. Working knowledge of the NRCS act. In-depth knowledge of regional and international treaties, trade protocols and mutual acceptance arrangements. In-depth knowledge of quality management systems. In-depth knowledge of corporate governance policies and procedures. In-depth knowledge of business strategy, planning and reporting processes. Working knowledge of Public Finance Management Act (PFMA). Very good knowledge of financial management and budgeting. Very good management skills and knowledge. Working knowledge of the calibration process. Working knowledge of risk management.
