Job Description

A large Retail company is seeking an experienced Fruit and Veg manager to ensure overall management, efficiency and profitability of the fruit and vegetable department.

Key Responsibilities:

Ensure stock received is inspected for quality, checks if pricing is correct and coordinates stock takes and stock rotations.

Management and control of inventory; stock checks; exercise the first in first out principal and control wastage.

Managing the Fruit and Vegetables Department to maximize gross profit

Oversee employees, ensuring appropriate produce handling, customer service, and pursuit of sales goals

Understanding and knowledge of the purchasing of fresh fruits and vegetables from different wholesalers

Ensure the group's fresh produce team exercise hygiene control and maintain excellent housekeeping protocols in compliance with health departments.

Provides the pricing information to the office staff responsible for entering prices into the store's computers, and supervises the placement of shelf tags.

Responsible for the freshness and the variety of the assortment

Ensure that the produce team actively engage with customers; advising and assisting them by providing them with product information.

Outstanding negotiation skills with proven track record of successful outcomes for all stakeholders.

Proven track record of leadership experience, including effective management of multiple projects simultaneously

Integrate processes and systems to optimize accuracy, efficiency, inventory productivity, space utilization, and profitability.

Come up with new ideas, to build and improve the produce department.

Signing off on invoices, timesheets and checklists, draft duty roster and authorizes voids and returns

Deep understanding of category terminology, market trends and industry standards.

Requirements:

Minimum 5 years retail experience in fruits and vegetables essential Good knowledge of the fruit and vegetables market Excellent customer service and communication skills Proficient with purchasing software and Microsoft Office Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
