The BIG Luxury Backpackers is looking for a dynamic, switched-on Receptionist who can hit the ground running. This is a frontline role that blends guest interaction, reservations, revenue awareness, and leadership. Key Responsibilities

Guest Experience

Deliver a warm, engaging welcome and maintain the property's social atmosphere. Manage check-ins, check-outs, guest enquiries, and activity bookings. Resolve issues professionally and efficiently.
Reservations & Admin

Handle bookings across email, phone, OTAs, and walk-ins. Accurately manage reservations, payments, refunds, and folios in Semper. Communicate arrival lists, changes, and special requests to relevant teams. Spot upsell opportunities and support occupancy optimisation.
Revenue Management

Assist with rate updates, availability, and restrictions on SiteMinder. Monitor competitor pricing and support pricing strategies. Ensure rate parity and accurate room allocations.
Night Audit (as needed)

Complete nightly balancing and reconcile payments. Prepare daily revenue reports and correct system discrepancies. Maintain security and smooth operations during quiet hours.
Leadership & Shift Management

Guide junior staff and help train new team members. Take full ownership of shifts, checklists, and handovers. Work flexible hours, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.
Communication & Property Standards

Collaborate closely with housekeeping, maintenance, and management. Report guest satisfaction issues, safety concerns, or operational needs. Keep shared spaces tidy and promote the property's fun, social brand.
Requirements

Strong reception & reservations experience -- must be able to start fast with minimal training. Proficiency in SiteMinder and Semper is non-negotiable. Experience with revenue management fundamentals and night auditing. Energetic, outgoing personality that thrives in a social hostel environment. Problem-solver with excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
