The Role
Responsibilities include financial planning, reporting, analysis and encompasses various finance functions. Reports to the General manager.

Experience and knowledge on value-added tax (VAT) , annual financial statements audits, provisional taxes, and budgets/forecast and book-keeping.
Principal AccountabilitiesReview of consolidated monthly vat returns submitted by Lloyd's approved brokers and underwriting managers called Coverholders, on behalf of underwriters, including cross checking of data against binder agreements (class of business, fees, commissions, etc). Analysis and trends in respect of significant month-on-month variances. Assist with the annual Coverholders vat review process, review and distribution of the reports, and ensure recommended solutions are implemented by the Coverholders. Liaise with the South African Revenue Services (SARS) on queries and/or outstanding refunds. Support the annual statutory audit process with the auditors, including draft financials review. Revert on auditor queries relating to non-employment spend. Manage the bi-annual provisional tax and annual income tax return (ITR14) process with the external service provider, including addressing queries. Support the General Manager on the annual budget process. Responsible for the forecast process and monthly tracking against budget. Review journal posting prior to uploading onto Workday and support the monthly finance reporting process to Central Finance. Compile the bi-monthly vat process for Lloyd's SA. Compile half-yearly and yearly finance reporting to central finance. Support the team in respect of ad hoc internal audits, where required. Support the General manager on ad hoc queries from the internal tax team. Any other ad hoc tasks assigned by the line manager and/or the Company.

SkillsFinancial expertise: Strong knowledge of financial principles, accounting standards and financial analysis techniques. Sound knowledge of value-added tax (VAT) principles (in the short-term insurance industry is advantageous). Communication skills: Ability to effectively communicate financial information and engage with both junior and senior audiences. Problem-solving skills: Ability to identify and provide solutions to financial issues. Compliance awareness: Have an understanding of relevant financial regulations and compliance requirements in finance.

Degree/diploma in accounting and a minimum of 3 years experience is required.
