MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Relevant tertiary education in Agriculture or Horticultural fields
• At least 5 years experience managing a team on a farm environment
• At least 3 years experience with large scale irrigation systems
• Experience driving a John Deere tractor
• Experience with road building practices on farms
• Experience with farm dam maintenance and management
• Keen knowledge of integrated pest management solutions
• Chemistry knowledge with regards to soil and water analysis
• Resides within 30km of the farm in order to come out for irrigation emergencies, or willing to relocate
• At least an C 1 drivers license
• Able to communicate in English
• Computer literate
• Read and write in English

• Ability to keep record and manage the annual water quota allocation
• Always using safe working practices and driving
• Ability to maintain high productivity and meet targets on a daily basis.
• Act in a trustworthy and responsible manner always.
• Equipment is kept clean and well maintained on a daily basis
• Of sober habits
• Non smoker

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

• Day-to-day management of farm personnel, vehicles, and equipment
• Daily Irrigation computer management and scheduling adjusting schedules with the weather
• Daily record keeping and management of the Theewaterskloof water quota available for the year
• Implement and monitor spraying and fertilizer schedules
• Management of the following teams: staking, irrigation, maintenance, pest control and fertilizing and any other team required by management
• Management of the upkeep and safekeeping of all tools and equipment used in their various teams
• Management of equipment purchases within budget
• Follow any other instructions that may be given to them by management
• Responsible for the discipline of the personnel under their supervision.
