Job Description
An established and diverse farm in Calitzdorp has a position for a dynamic Farm Manager to join their team.
The ideal candidate is an honest, enthusiastic, experienced, and healthy person with good leadership skills, as well as a hardworking individual who can think independently and innovatively and take initiative.
The role requires the following responsibilities and expertise in the following aspects:
- Vegetable Seed Production: Cucumber seed, Leek seed, and Carrot seed
- Fresh Vegetable Production: Butternuts, Beets, and Onions
- Raisin production
- Wine grape production
- Lucerne cultivation, production, and harvest, as well as soil preparation, planting, and harvesting of other crops
- Large and small livestock production (Cattle, Angora Goats, Sheep)
- Good knowledge of irrigation systems and fertilization programs
- Good mechanical knowledge for maintenance and upkeep of all machinery and buildings
- Budget preparation along with ongoing financial management of income and expenses against the budget
- Taking responsibility for all financial aspects of the farm
- Identifying and developing expansion opportunities
- Computer skills, administration, and accurate record-keeping
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to drive and manage staff
- General cleanliness of the farm, buildings, machinery, equipment, and tools
- Reporting to Directors
- An appropriate tertiary qualification with approximately 7 years of experience
Salary: Nett R20 000-R30 000 + benefits such as housing, company vehicle, cellphone allowance
