Job Description

Main Purpose of the Job
Responsible and accountable for managing the day-to-day delivery of the events and promotions operations and team including the mind and mood elements (experiential and sensory activation) promotions management, events management, entertainment performances, artistes and entertainers with the objectives of creating the reputation of the business unit's brand as the entertainment and casino establishment of choice.
Education, experience, and competencies required.

  • Grade 12
  • Minimum of a 2-year Diploma in Marketing / Events Management
  • Minimum of 3 years marketing, promotions or events management experience
  • Exposure in the gaming industry is preferred.

Job Scope and Responsibilities
Events / Promotions Planning
  • Benchmark and conduct an analysis of competitor product offerings in the local area
  • Have a thorough understanding of gaming systems and bonusing tools to execute relevant promotions
  • Perform a trend analysis and interpretation of current customer needs using business intelligence tools and data
  • Compile an annual events / entertainment calendar for the business unit including
customer-focused solutions - promotions, events and entertainment relevant to customer preferences; as well as targeting new markets and opportunities
Create innovative solutions and plans to target new markets and opportunities * Compile promotional plans and proposals (including recommendations, project plan and costing) for events / promotions in line with client requests Allocate resources for delivery of promotion / event
  • Provide agencies with the creative feedback for promotions and events
  • Manage and quality assure deliverables in line with objectives and timelines
  • Compile a risk analysis for the plan / event, including alternative plans in the event of a crisis
  • Conduct pre-event meetings and work with client to understand the entertainment requirement
Events / Promotions Management
  • Oversee the set-up event decor
  • Oversee the planning of menus, order food, and hire chefs or caterers.
  • Identify and include relevant sensory stimuli per activation
  • Give final approval for items such as music and menus
  • Drive attendance to the event through the use of flyers, cold calling, and social media as examples of ways to spark attention.
  • Project manage and monitor action plans prior to event / promotion including advertising, media liaison, promotional collateral
  • Manage the development and delivery of internal communication messaging around promotions, entertainment, events to all staff to ensure cohesive messaging
  • Source and select providers to assist in meeting entertainment / event deliverables
  • Communicate with suppliers / contractors with regards requirements for specific events / entertainment, leveraging relationships to optimize the event within the set budget
  • Be present during events and promotions to ensure a seamless execution in line with
Plans * Co-ordinate post-mortem feedback from operations and other stakeholders to evaluate the success and relevance of the promotion / event
  • Completes month end analysis and compile event / promotional reports
  • Track and reconcile expenses to allocated budget
  • Liaise with management to evaluate the post-mortem of the event.
People Management
  • Manage staff conditions of employment, e.g. attendance, absenteeism, leave, adherence to policies and procedures
  • Manage productivities and payroll costs for the department
  • Identification of employee training needs
  • Perform on the job training and coaching to close developmental gaps and build succession for a talent pipeline within the department
  • Manage employee relations within the department
  • Staff communication and motivation
  • Performance contracting, reviews and development
  • Provides resources and removes obstacles to performance
  • Recruit and resource for talent for positions within the department
  • Onboarding of new staff members
Know How
  • Requires specialized knowledge of techniques, equipment and processes relating to promotions, events and entertainment practices, products and customers
  • Short term planning within a 3-months timeframe involves conducting
  • Organize, plan and prioritize tasks for self and team to ensure that work gets done efficiently and within budget constraints;
  • Effective scheduling to ensure that team is adequately resourced to achieve targets/meet job requirements.

  • Apply business acumen and sound common sense to the overall management of promotions /events / entertainment operations and teams within regulated standards;

  • Analyse and diagnose customer preferences in order to maximize or leverage the strengths of the team in a competitive environment;

  • Provide information and make recommendations regarding entertainment, events and promotions that will meet customer needs;
  • Suggest initiatives to increase penetration of customer base;
  • Solve a wide range of queries related to customer service, dealing with these sensitively and within operational/procedural limitations;
  • Solutions should be profitable and ensure the correct customer behaviour in terms of product usage;
  • Arbitrate / resolve difficult customer complaints and/or issues / disputes.
  • Optimize and streamline existing systems and processes to support the business strategy in terms of cost efficiency, managing risks and improving the service offering;
