The Department:

The Events Manager is a key role within Human Resources and interacts and communicates with all parts of the business, including the managing of internal and external events and communication. The HR team is central to all people-related activities, services, culture, experiences and practices in the business.

Purpose of the Role:

We are seeking an enthusiastic Events Manager with a xe2x80x9ccan-doxe2x80x9d attitude to join our HR Team. The Events Manager is a key role responsible for planning, costing, scheduling, coordinating, and executing all of Digi's corporate events, both internally and externally. This role requires a highly organized and detail-oriented person with strong project management skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proven track record in event planning and execution. The Events Manager will work closely with cross-functional teams and external companies to deliver successful events that enhance the organization's brand and reputation. Key stakeholders include working closely with Corporate Communications (all branding and comms are owned by this team), Organisational Development (who own culture, engagement, organisational, leadership, professional and individual development), Talent Acquisition (career fairs, graduate recruitment initiatives and the like), Facilities and Office Support, and any department requesting assistance with major events.

Duties include, but not limited to:

  • Develop and implement event strategies aligned with the organization's, departmentxe2x80x99s and in some cases, the committeexe2x80x99s goals (example, the Charity Committee)
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand event objectives, target audience, and desired outcomes.
  • Fully replace the need to engage external events management providers xe2x80x93 the expectation is that you take on this responsibility in all its facets xe2x80x93 hence the expectation that you have an already established network of event service providers such as venue hire, dxc3xa9cor hire, entertainment hire, catering providers and the like
  • Conduct thorough research to identify suitable event concepts, formats, and venues. For internal events, work creatively with limited budget to pull a rabbit out a hat, using existing venues, materials, talent, and volunteers.
  • Prepare comprehensive event plans, including budgets, timelines, and resource allocation.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legal, regulatory, and ethical considerations for events.
  • Oversee end-to-end event logistics, including venue selection, contract negotiation, catering, transportation, and audio-visual requirements.
  • Develop and manage event budgets, track expenses, and provide regular reports to stakeholders.
  • Coordinate event registration, attendee management, and communication with participants and suppliers.
  • Organise the venue and ensure that it is appropriately set up, regarding to seating and dxc3xa9cor (requires the ability to manage suppliers of services and goods; as well as project manage all deliverables to align perfectly)
  • Work closely with the Corporate Communications team to develop event assets, branding material and utilize communication channels.
  • Compose content for events communication.
  • Manage event timelines, schedules, and on-site coordination to ensure smooth operations.
  • Liaise with internal and external executives, speakers, and subject matter experts to secure their participation and support for events.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external vendors, sponsors, partners, and event industry professionals.
  • Serve as a point of contact for event-related inquiries and provide timely and accurate information to stakeholders.
  • Conduct post-event evaluations, gather feedback, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Follow up with suppliers and finance to arrange payment and, after the event, to evaluate the service provided.
  • Prepare event reports highlighting key outcomes, attendee feedback, and recommendations for future events.
  • Organize and coordinate team-social and team-building activities to foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Manage internal charity committee and organize monthly charity drives and fundraising initiatives.
  • Create xe2x80x98hypexe2x80x99 around events using our social media channels.
Major Events:
  • Staff annual year-end function (+/-1500 guests)
  • Annual calendar of staff functions xe2x80x93 sporting, wellness days, charity events, etc.
  • Coordinate any initiative that affects the whole company, or Major events for divisions or departments

Essential Criteria:
  • Proven ability to work with very tight budgets, and to maximise return on spend.
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (2-5 years) as an events manager or similar role, preferably within a corporate communications or marketing department.
  • Portfolio of previously managed events.
Desirable Criteria:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple events simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with event marketing strategies and digital platforms is a plus.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, if required. Limited need, but may be necessary on occasion.
  • Strong budget management and negotiation skills.
  • Neat personal appearance.
  • Possesses strong, meticulous and analytical skills.
