About the Opportunity

Jacobs Clean Energy SA (Pty) Ltd, in Cape Town, who predominately work in the Nuclear (Energy) Industry for Koeberg, are seeking a Engineering Contract Manager with a passion to grow, guide and support our project teams in terms of contract management, to achieve successful delivery of our portfolio of large EPC projects. The Contract Manager will work closely with the Project and Construction Managers and manage the NEC contracts, claims, compensation events, commercials, legal, risks and governance aspects of the various projects and company. Key responsibilities will be:

• Preparation, drafting and management of NEC correspondence and associated communication registers, Early Warnings, Contract Risk
• Registers, Claims and Compensation events between Jacobs and its customers and subcontractors/vendors
• Champion the contractual change management process, which includes drafting and review of change orders, claims and compensation events, back charges and penalties, management and resolution of incoming claims in relation to customers, subcontractors and key vendors
• Compiling, generating, reviewing, managing, and defending of compensation events
• Focal point for promoting awareness on contracts provisions, and tracking and timely issuance of notifications, monitoring of milestones and payment in cooperation with the project team
• Managing the contracts lifecycle from bid negotiation, through to project execution and warranty phases, including the review and draft of amendments, contractual documents, renewal of contracts, contract reviews, organize contract induction meetings, issue reports, interpretations and assessments on contracts
• Verifying, in conjunction with dedicated departments, that all insurances and guarantees required by the contracts and subcontracts are in place
• Cooperation and liaison with Jacobs corporate functions, e.g. projects, finance, legal, compliance, IP on specific matters and possible disputes
• With the support of Jacobxe2x80x99s international Commercial Management resources, ensure that Jacobs Clean Energy SA complies with all Jacobxe2x80x99s and local commercial and legal governance requirements, and develop in this role to eventually perform the commercial management role locally

Herexe2x80x99s What Youxe2x80x99ll Need:

• Degree in law or appropriate technical qualification (Quantity Surveying, Engineering or Commercial)
• Proven knowledge of NEC suite of contracts
• Contracts administration experience xe2x80x93 NEC experience is essential (other, FIDIC, JBCC)
• Relevant technical / construction project industry experience
• Negotiating with customers, suppliers and subcontractors
• Building and managing relationships with customers
• Monitoring the contract progress of projects
• Providing direction to the project managers and project teams
• Identifying and managing commercial risks and commercial management experience
• Commercial strategy and the commercial direction of projects and the business
• Jacobs Interface management and Group Policy Implementation
