Job Description

Job Purpose




The purpose of this role is to monitor and control total aircraft maintenance activities performed by SAAT and service providers for customer aircraft ensuring on time availability of aircraft to meet the flight schedule.

Principal Accountabilities



Monitoring of aircraft technical status to ensure on time departure of customer aircraft





Monitor aircraft defects and implement a rectification action as necessary



Monitor aircraft within SAAT facilities and advise customers timeously for any potential schedule disruption.



Control/co-ordinate aircraft changes as required to minimise customer schedule interruption.


Plan and direct technical resources required for recovery during irregular technical interruption.





Ensure optimum use of resources when planning recovery activities during schedule interruption.



Direct maintenance activities for unscheduled maintenance for all operational aircraft to meet/recover the customer schedule as required.



Co-ordinate with maintenance teams in prioritizing timeous repair/rectification of any unscheduled maintenance in the hangar or on the line.



Arrange for repairs to significant defects at outstations as necessary and advise all relevant departments.


Monitor and control all technical deferments and deviations as per company approved procedures





Monitor MEL deferments and associated limits and plan rectification timeously to avoid AOG situation or delays.



Monitor GT 16 deferments and associated limits and plan rectification timeously to avoid AOG situation or delays.



Arrange for and monitor GT 256 deferments for outstations and plan rectification timeously to avoid AOG situation or delays.



Authorise GT 16 deferments on behalf of relevant Managers.



Review limitations associated to deferments and advise stake holders of any operational impact.


Communication





Monitor all incoming communications and respond accordingly.



Co-ordinate the notifications to respective parties of Air Directives, Alert Service Bulletins and Service Bulletins requirements after hours.



Maintain effective communication/reporting system to all stakeholders.



Advise customers and relevant sections of MEL, GT 16s and other deviations


"Aircraft on Ground" recovery





Assume total control of all AOG situations and delegate resources as required.



Arrange for spares through 24 hour desk for AOG aircraft.



Arrange for hangar space as required for repairs.



Initiate aircraft incident recovery teams as necessary


Administration and document control





Register/scrutinize documentation and ensure that all approved deviations comply with approved, OEM or Regulatory requirements.



Ensure records/documentation are maintained accurately and current


Tooling, Equipment and spares





Co-ordinate requests for spares/assistance for Line Stations.



After hours register all hire loan items in liaison with 24 hour desk and Line Stations.

To supervise sub-ordinates in line with SAAT's HR policies and procedures





Ensure all work performed by each team member is performed in accordance with laid down procedures and regulations.



Identify the training needs of the crew members and recommend to departmental Manager.



Initiate appropriate employee wellbeing and relation action within the team where necessary



Adhere to all HR policies and procedures



Maintain regular team meetings and feedback sessions


Co-ordinate SAAT maintenance functions after normal working hours




Assist with the issuing of interim stamps after hours




Coordinate all IOD incidents after hours as required and notify respective managers of all emergencies



Qualifications & Experience




Grade 12 or equivalent



Trade test in Avionics or Aircraft mechanical trade and type 2 shop certification



3 years' uninterrupted experience as a MCC desk coordinator



10 years' Airframe and engine maintenance experience in Part 145



Aircraft Maintenance and 1 year Line Maintenance experience (included in the 10 years)






Knowledge and Skills
