Job Description
Diesel Electric Services is a turnkey energy solutions company with a 30 year track record in the industry. The company designs, builds, installs and commissions a wide variety of power generation and energy products. The company serves a wide range of industries, from telecommunications to mining. The company requires the services of a senior design draughtsman - mechanical, on a full time basis.
The primary role is to manage the drawing department. The department is made up of 10 - 12 draughtsmen and women, both mechanical and electrical. Management of the department includes allocating and scheduling work, monitoring progress and quality, technical oversight and driving continuous improvement. The technical oversight is focused on the work produced by the mechanical staff which make up 75% of the department. Technical electrical knowledge is not required. The manager will also be required to complete mechanical designs and drawings based on the department workload and overflow.
The company's range of products and solutions are vast, majority of which are designed and fabricated in house. In summary, work will include but not limited to basic structures, ventilation equipment, cooling equipment, sheet metal, fabricated steel frames, piping systems and tanks.
The position is on site, at the company premises. Occasional travel is required and own transport is necessary.
The candidate will report to the Mechanical Engineering Manager.
Qualification:
It is preferred that the candidate has a draughting qualification.
Experience:
10 years minimum in a draughting environment, CAD and your Inventor or similar. Management experience is essential. Experience in a manufacturing, fabrication and installation environment is beneficial.
Skills:
Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel). Management. Leadership.
Attributes:
Self-motivated. Ability to balance high demand and requests from various departments. Ability to adjust to change in schedules with little notice. Effective time management skills and the ability to multitask. Good people skills.
