Diesel Mechanic

Job Description
Leading manufacturing group are seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic who is trade tested with a minimum of 5 years experience working on trucks.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performing preventative maintenance on trucks, trailers, diesel powered fridge units and generators by conducting inspections to identify damages or worn components
- Maintaining detailed records of serviced vehicles
- Checking vehicle lighting, charging and starting systems
- Test driving vehicles to gauge performance and fuel consumption
- Running diagnostic tests on all vehicle systems, steering system, suspension system (pneumatic and mechanical) braking system (Pneumatic, hydro-pneumatic and hydraulic brakes)
- Maintaining a parts inventory
- Ensuring the cleanliness of the workshop (housekeeping)
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications
- Adhering to an inspection procedure checklist
- Attending to breakdowns
- Grade 12
- N6 Mechanical
- Diesel Mechanic Trade Test
- 5 Years experience
- Drivers License - Code 14 (with PDP)
- Skilled in servicing, overhauling, and repairing diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to use diagnostic equipment, electronic fault-finding tools, and technical manuals.
- Welding, fabrication, and auto-electrical experience (an added advantage)
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance systems
R20,000 To R25,000 Per Month
