The Desktop Support Specialist is responsible for providing first- and second-line technical support to end users, ensuring the reliable operation of desktop computers, laptops, mobile devices, and related hardware and software across the organisation. The role supports Windows-based systems, Android devices, and Apple iPhones, ensuring minimal downtime and a high level of user satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
End-User Support
Provide technical support to users for desktops, laptops, printers, and mobile devices.
Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
Respond to support requests via helpdesk system (Jira), email, phone, or in person.
Escalate complex issues to senior IT staff when required.
Desktop & Operating Systems Support
Install, configure, and maintain Windows operating systems and standard business applications.
Troubleshoot Windows OS issues, including performance and application errors.
Mobile Device Support
Support Autobid Application on Android smartphones.
Support Autobid Application on Apple iPhones (iOS).
Support Autobid Application on dedicated 2D and RFID scanners.
Hardware & Peripherals
Set up and maintain laptops and printers.
Perform basic hardware troubleshooting.
Networking & Connectivity
Provide basic support for LAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, and remote access issues.
Assist users with network logins and connectivity troubleshooting.
Minimum Requirements
Diploma or Certificate in Information Technology or related field.
2-3 years' experience in a desktop support or helpdesk role.
Strong working knowledge of Windows OS.
Experience supporting Android and iPhone (iOS) devices.
Good understanding of computer hardware and peripherals.
Valid Drivers License

Experience with Microsoft 365.

Office-based with occasional after-hours or on-call support.
May require visits to customers.
