Job Purpose

Our Bus Services is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced

Depot Manager

to oversee the full operation of the Bus Depot. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring efficient operations across Operations, Technical, and Administration departments while meeting commuter and learner transport requirements, as well as strategic and budgetary targets set by the Group General Manager.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Management

Ensure the efficient daily operation of the depot, including scheduling, deployment, and retrieval of buses Maintain high standards of service delivery and customer satisfaction Ensure compliance with all safety, health, and regulatory requirements

Technical & Fleet Management

Oversee fleet maintenance, repairs, and breakdown management Ensure optimal bus availability and roadworthiness Lead and manage technical and workshop staff

Procurement & Inventory Control

Implement cost-effective procurement strategies for spare parts and materials Oversee inventory control to ensure availability of essential supplies

Staff Management & Development

Lead, supervise, and develop depot staff Manage performance, discipline, and staff development Ensure adherence to company policies, SARPBAC agreements, and disciplinary procedures

Financial & Administrative Oversight

Manage depot budgets, cost control, and financial planning Ensure accurate reporting on operational, financial, and maintenance activities

Customer & Stakeholder Relations

Handle community liaison and passenger complaints Maintain effective relationships with inspectors, security services, and occupational health & safety stakeholders

Strategic Planning & Continuous Improvement

Identify and implement operational improvements Participate in future planning, expansion, and facility upgrades

Working Conditions

Overtime may be required as per operational needs Working hours, leave, and public holidays are governed by the Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Company Policy, and Road Passenger Industry norms

Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 (Matric) Certificate Minimum of

3 years' relevant Bus Depot Operations experience

Diploma or Degree in Road Transport will be an added advantage Strong leadership, organisational, and problem-solving skills Sound knowledge of safety, labour, and transport regulations
