Job Description


Our Client in the Automotive Industry is looking for a Department Manager: Incubation Programmes to join their team, in Pretoria.

Responsibilities:

  • Department Business Planning:
  • Lead the Business Planning Process for the department.
  • Business process improvement recommendations.
  • Department business process optimization coordination.
  • Develops department budget.
  • Incubation Programme Management:
  • Incubatee sourcing strategy defined and implemented.
  • Incubatee sourcing, assessment, short-listing, selection and placement.
  • Custodian of the incubatee development process towards creating successful entrepreneurs within the automotive industry.
  • Design and Development of the entrepreneur development plan.
  • Ensure buy-in from all stakeholders to the plan.
  • Monitors milestone achievement against the agreed development plan.
  • Assess competence at each milestone on the plan and sign off.
  • Implement corrective actions.
  • Manage the exit strategy of each incubatee (business).
  • Business Development, Marketing And Sales:
  • Identify business needs and new opportunities to ensure growth and sustainability.
  • Develop proposals and feasibility studies on various potential projects for both the Department as well as the BEE companies.
  • Identify stakeholders and funders for IPD as well as to promote the companies in the fields of their expertise.
  • Client Identification and engagement for the department as well as projects that are operational within the department.
  • Brand representation.
  • Marketing activities arranged to promote each of the BEE companies established, showcasing their individual abilities.
  • Media publications in automotive related magazines.
  • Research into methods to improve the concept.
  • Programme/Project Delivery:
  • Manages THE COMPANY Risk Profile with regards to production supply stability.
  • Ensure delivery as per agreed business plan.
  • Ensure delivery in training and mentoring, for the companies, against Incubatee Development Plan.
  • Oversee disciplinary processes.
  • Performance management for staff and entrepreneurs with the various incubation centres. Review performance data to monitor and measure productivity, goal progress and activity levels.
  • Review performance of operational targets of each of the companies and ensure corrective actions are in place for non-performance.
  • Oversee implementation of Quality Management Systems within the IPD and BEE companies.
  • Ensure Operational facility issues are resolved.
  • Ensure Health and Safety requirements are adhered to.
  • Intervene and mediate between operators, the bargaining council and the unions during strike actions.
  • Ensure the companies have the required assets to deliver on the customerxe2x80x99s requirements.
  • Lead price negotiations between BEE companies and their respective Tier 1xe2x80x99s.
  • Negotiate contracts with new stakeholders entering the program.
  • Represent the Department and THE COMPANY to all stakeholders.
  • Ensure effective and efficient utilization of resources in achieving plans and objectives.
  • Identify problems, develops alternatives and recommend courses of action in consultation with the Executive: Industry Development, through analysis, interpretation and evaluation of issues.
  • Accountable for budget.
  • Accountable for risk management.
  • Accountable for facility and asset upgrades.
  • Advise on architectural requirements of new facility.
  • Advise on layout of new facility.
  • Compile Business Plan for new concept.
  • Oversee compilation of the financial/sustainability model.
  • Plan manpower requirements.
  • Specify Equipment to be procured and oversee procurement process.
  • Oversee installation and commissioning of equipment.
  • Marketing activities arranged to promote each of the BEE companies established, showcasing their individual abilities.
  • Media publications in automotive related magazines.
  • Stakeholder Relationship Management:
  • Manage relationships with the relevant role players in accordance with project requirements and dependencies:
  • Automotive Industry Stakeholders.
  • Business Partners including but not limited to Tier 1xe2x80x99s, OEMxe2x80x99s, Incubatees and any other third parties as required from time to time.
  • Operating departments.
  • Facilitate meetings with the role players to discuss the roles and responsibilities and possible areas of cooperation, improvement and conflict.
  • Obtain mutual agreement on the resolution of issues, meetings required and the delivery of inter-dependent outputs and results.
  • Agree to the expected outcomes from each party and set-up SLAxe2x80x99s where required.
  • Monitor the performance of all relevant role players continuously to ensure that the agreements and other obligations are honoured.
  • Inform the relevant role players of the outcomes, deviations and actions required.
  • Maintain and develop relationships.
  • Maintain a database of stakeholders/role players.
  • Reporting:
  • Ensure that the correct project and departmental information is reported.
  • Progress against development and incubatee graduation plans.
  • Ensure on-time and accurate submission of all required reports.
  • Ensure all evidence is collected and filed for auditing purposes.
  • Reports on performance to budget.
  • Statutory reporting.
  • Reporting to different stakeholders as required in the different Incubation Centres.
  • Involved in quality non-conformances to Stakeholders regarding the BEE companies supplying Tier 1 Suppliers.
  • Reporting to Stakeholders on Injuries on Duty and corrective actions.
  • Reporting on project Risk registers for the various sites.
  • Reporting on employment and training within the incubation centres.
  • Departmental Oversight:
  • Compile, review, update and maintain the Departmental Risk registers in line with the companyxe2x80x99s risk management process.
  • Business process improvement recommendations.
  • Plans, directs and co-ordinates the operations of the department.
  • Plan and implement procedures and systems to maximize operating efficiency.
  • Establish and maintain necessary controls.
  • Ensure compliance with policies and practices and contributes to the development and implementation of THE COMPANY policies and procedures, consistent with the the company strategic direction.
  • Manage compliance to the Enterprise Resource Planning system policy, processes and operational requirements.
  • Accountable for the implementation and maintenance of all SHEQ policies, procedures and practices.
  • People Management:
  • Manage employees as appropriate within the department to optimise business performance and the service to customers.
  • Ensure staff have the required skills and experience to execute their tasks.
  • Conduct Performance Planning Sessions.
  • Compile the Performance Management (KPI) documentation in collaboration with the staff member in terms of:
  • Job Profile requirements.
  • Strategic Performance Objectives.
  • Personal Development Plan.
  • Track and monitor performance in accordance with policies and procedures and performance planning documentation.
  • Continuously provide feedback and coaching to ensure that the staff member/s performs at optimum productivity level.
  • Conduct performance reviews in accordance with policies and procedures and take corrective actions where necessary.
  • Appraise performance at the end of each performance period in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Cross functional communication from a matrix management perspective.
  • Manage departmental staff on multiple sites.
Requirements:
  • Bachelorxe2x80x99s Degree (Industrial/Mechanical Engineering, Production).
  • Business Management qualification an advantage.
  • Technical/Legal Certification.
  • Project Management Qualification (1 year diploma).
  • A minimum of 10 years working experience, with minimum 5 years in management, complemented by a minimum of 3 years in-depth working knowledge in Manufacturing within the Automotive Sector, Project Management, or similar areas.
  • Incubation and or SMME Development experience.
  • Experience Quality Management; Production Management, Lean Manufacturing, Business Process Optimization, SHEQ and OHS Legislation and implementation.
  • Experience in acquiring and utilizing government and donor funding is an advantage.
  • Business analysis.

Remuneration:
