Job Description

Dis-Chem Pharmacies Distribution Centre in New Germany (KwaZulu-Natal) has an opportunity available for a Checking Supervisor to join the team. The main purpose of this role will be to achieve operational excellence within the Dis-Chem Warehouse.Perform a Supervisory function in the Checking/ Order Confirmation Area
or Outbound Department, in order to meet both legal and customer requirements.
Minimum Requirements
Essential:

  • Grade 12 or Senior Certificate
  • 1- 2 Years relevant experience
Job Specification
  • Ensure that a high standard of accuracy is maintained during checking of picked orders
  • Ensure that all picked stock is scanned to verify order against required quantity, batch and expiry date
  • Ensure that stock is packed in a manner that will prevent cross-contamination and damages during transport to stores
  • Ensure that once checked that: Either the pack-slip is included in the box or label with the description of goods in the Stock box or tote
  • Ensure that all goods when packed for dispatch to stores are labelled with labels required. (Use the store name/ invoice number and
number of boxes) * Do not allow stock to be removed from the warehouse, without proper documentation or the approval of the supervisor or manager/pharmacist
  • Ensure targets set by management are met and reported
  • Ensure KPIs are met
  • Report and record to management on all errors made by checkers and pickers
  • Ensure all administration/ filling is accurate and up to date
  • Keep accurate record on the use or damage of stock or stock-handling equipment
  • Issue or distribute materials, products and supplies to co-workers based on information from incoming requisitions
  • Prepare and maintain records and reports of inventories, shortages, shipments, expenditures and goods used or issued
  • Regularly confer with management regarding stock procurement and availability
  • Oversee the cleaning and maintaining of supplies, tools, equipment and storage areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations
  • Ensure packing and unpacking of items to be stocked on shelves, in checking area
  • Inform management of any issues or concerns concerning distribution centre`s checking personnel
Competencies
Essential:
  • Knowledge of Management Systems, Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, Public Safety and Security, Customer Service,Transportation Principles and Methods, Production and Processing, Material Handling Standards, Administration and Management, Supply Chain and Personnel and Human Resources Management
  • Have knowledge of the business measures and targets, directly related to own role.
Demonstrate thorough theoretical and practical knowledge and understanding of all Distribution Centre, logistics and supply chain operations * Comprehensive knowledge of Store and Distribution receiving procedures with regard to ordering, receiving and stocking
  • Knowledge of replenishment systems and procedures
  • English Read, write and speak. Be able to communicate proactively in order to build co-operative relationships with internal customers
  • Trustworthy and Honest
  • Demonstrates personal initiative
  • Takes accountability for own actions
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the business measures and targets directly relating to own role
  • Time management, deadline driven and attention to detail
  • Be able to lead, motivate and inspire others
