DESCRIPTION/SYNOPSIS:

The Credit Control Manager is responsible for overseeing the full Credit Control function. They will manage the granting of credit to customers within the specified limits, direct the activities of the credit control functions at their Eastern Cape and North West branches, and maintain outstanding debts at an acceptable level. As a key member of the finance team, the Credit Control Manager will collaborate with sales management to optimize credit control processes and cultivate professional relationships with customers.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

To be considered for the role of Credit Control Manager, candidates should meet the following minimum requirements:
*Relevant tertiary qualification, such as a B.Com or an Institute of Credit Management Diploma (Credit Management level 1-5), or an equivalent qualification.
*A minimum of 6 years of experience in either credit control or an accounting function.
*Progressing towards a recognized qualification or membership of the Institute of Credit Control is desirable, demonstrating a commitment to professional growth and development.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

As the Credit Control Manager, your responsibilities will include:
*Applying and enforcing the group credit control policy and procedures, as well as relevant internal controls, to ensure consistent and effective credit management practices.
*Processing customers' credit applications, including evaluating creditworthiness and assessing risk, to make informed decisions regarding credit limits and terms.
*Ensuring the timely processing of customer payments, counter sales (P.O.S) receipts, credit notes, customer refunds, and addressing customer queries promptly and accurately.
*Managing the end-to-end collection process efficiently, from invoice issuance to payment receipt, to encourage timely settlement of accounts and maximize collections from delinquent customers.
*Proactively engaging with key accounts to nurture strong business relationships, address any credit-related concerns, and optimize credit performance.
*Collaborating with the sales team to cultivate and maintain professional, mutually beneficial relationships with customers, providing credit-related insights and support to drive business growth.
*Managing municipal and government contracts and cessions, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and timely invoicing.
*Maintaining up-to-date records and administration of the credit insurance policy, including regular assessments and updates as required.
*Providing accurate and punctual daily, weekly, and monthly reports on credit control activities, collections, and debtors' balances.
*Ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements related to credit control activities, including adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
*Maintaining and updating customer files, both in hard copy and electronic formats, to ensure accurate and accessible documentation.
*Overseeing a portfolio of 200-300 account customers, as well as managing numerous cash customers. Note that not all customers will be active at the same time. The size of the debtors' book ranges from R25-35 million.

SOFT SKILLS/ADDITIONAL INFO:

In addition to the minimum requirements, the following soft skills and additional qualifications will be advantageous:
*Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, enabling effective credit analysis and risk assessment.
*Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.
*Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in managing credit-related documentation and financial records.
*Ability to work independently and as part of a team, collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve common goals.
*Knowledge of manufacturing/building material supply/Syspro systems or related industry experience would be beneficial in understanding the unique credit control dynamics of the sector.
