The Deli Counter Hand is responsible for providing excellent customer service, maintaining high standards of hygiene and food safety, and assisting in the preparation, display, and sale of deli products. This role requires a friendly, efficient individual with good product knowledge and a passion for fresh food presentation.
Key Responsibilities
Greet and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner.
Prepare, weigh, price, and package deli products accurately.
Maintain attractive and well-stocked deli displays.
Slice meats and cheeses to customer specifications.
Follow all hygiene, safety, and food handling procedures.
Keep work areas, counters, and equipment clean and sanitised.
Monitor product freshness and assist with daily rotation of stock.
Assist with preparation of salads, sandwiches, and cooked items as needed.
Report any shortages, quality issues, or equipment problems promptly.
Work efficiently as part of a team, maintaining good communication with colleagues and supervisors.
Requirements
Previous experience in a deli, supermarket, or food service environment (advantageous).
Knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards.
Friendly and helpful attitude with excellent customer service skills.
Ability to work under pressure during busy periods.
Reliable, punctual, and presentable at all times.
Willingness to work weekends and public holidays as required.
