A well-established organisation is looking for a Wors production hand in our Joburg Store.
Job Summary and Purpose:
We are seeking an experienced wors production hand to join our butchery team. The wors production hand will be responsible for the cutting, trimming and preparation of carcasses and the preparation of meat packs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure the butchery team exercise hygiene control and maintain excellent housekeeping protocols in compliance with health departments.
Applies safe working practices in preparation of meat. Cleans working areas, utensils and equipment daily.
Receives meat from blockman; minces meat. Mixes minces and spices required by recipe and ensure the products meet taste tests.
Prepare meat for sausages; attaching of sausage casing, feeds meat through filler and ensures texture is acceptable. Preparation of meat for making hamburger patties.
Prepare and place meat cuts and products in display counter, so they will appear attractive and catch the shopper's eye.
Wrap, weigh, label, and price cuts of meat.
Cure and tenderize and preserve meat
Ensures there's no wastage.
Extend beyond personal responsibilities to assist and teach fellow colleagues and be respectful, appreciative; fair and thankful of other teammates and give attention to detail in daily work habits without losing focus on the overall task at hand.
Competencies
Grade 12 qualification
Good customer service skills
Good communication skills
Knowledge of meat market operations & hygiene and safety standards, experience with making
Experience
Minimum 2 years of butchery wors production hand experience.
