to support kitchen operations by assisting with food preparation and cooking in accordance with approved menus, recipes, and quality standards. The successful candidate will contribute to efficient service delivery while maintaining high standards of food quality, hygiene, and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with the preparation and cooking of meals according to approved recipes and menu specifications.
Prepare ingredients such as chopping vegetables, marinating meats, and assembling dishes.
Work across designated kitchen stations (e.g. grill, saute, or pastry) as directed by senior chefs.
Ensure food quality, taste, presentation, and portion control meet required standards.
Assist with stock control and stock rotation, ensuring proper storage and freshness of ingredients (FIFO).
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of kitchen workstations and equipment.
Adhere to food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards at all times.
Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to support smooth and efficient kitchen operations.
Requirements / Skills
Grade 12 qualification.
Valid South African ID.
Minimum of 3 years' relevant experience in a similar role.
Qualification in Hospitality or Culinary Studies will be an advantage.
Sound knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen operations.
Ability to work under pressure and follow instructions accurately.
Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
