Sodexo is seeking a

dedicated and skilled Cook

to

actively prepare and cook meals

at our Church of Scotland Hospital site in Tugela Ferry, KZN. The successful candidate will be

responsible for hands on cooking

, ensuring meals are prepared, cooked, and served in accordance with approved menus, recipes, and quality standards, while maintaining high levels of food quality, hygiene, and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare, cook, and present meals according to approved menus, recipes, and portion standards.

Take responsibility for daily cooking duties, including hot and cold meals, as per service requirements.

Prepare ingredients such as chopping vegetables, marinating meats, and assembling dishes.

Work independently and across designated kitchen stations (e.g. grill, saute, or pastry) as directed by senior chefs.

Ensure food quality, taste, presentation, and portion control meet required standards.

Monitor cooking times and temperatures to ensure food safety and quality.

Assist with stock control, stock rotation, and proper storage of ingredients in line with FIFO principles.

Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation of kitchen workstations, utensils, and equipment.

Adhere strictly to food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards at all times.

Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure smooth and efficient kitchen operations.

Requirements / Skills

Grade 12 qualification.

Valid South African ID.

Minimum of 3 years' relevant experience in a similar role.

Qualification in Hospitality or Culinary Studies will be an advantage.

Sound knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen operations.

Ability to work under pressure and follow instructions accurately.

Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
