Construction Site Supervisor

Job Description

Responsible for overseeing and coordinating construction activities at a job site. This role plays a crucial role in ensuring the successful completion of projects within budget, timeline, and quality standards. Provides leadership, direction, and supervision to the construction team, subcontractors, and suppliers. The function of this role is to oversee the construction of projects and monitor activities at worksites, liaise with subcontractors and vendors, and perform other administrative tasks and assist the project manager in the day-to-day running of projects on site to the standards governing safety, quality, and the project brief.

Responsibilities:



Site Management

Supervise daily construction activities and ensure adherence to project schedules. Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress and compliance with design specifications. Monitor project progress and make adjustments as necessary to meet deadlines.
Project Planning and Coordination

Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to develop project plans, schedules, and budgets. Coordinate and schedule construction activities, including subcontractor and supplier involvement. Ensure compliance with project specifications, building codes, and safety regulations.
Supervision and Leadership

Provide leadership and direction to the team, including subcontractors and suppliers. Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members, ensuring efficient utilization of resources. Monitor and evaluate the performance of the construction team, providing feedback and coaching as needed. Promote a positive and collaborative work environment, fostering teamwork and professionalism.
Quality Control and Assurance

Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, and quality standards. Conduct regular inspections and quality checks to identify and resolve any issues or deficiencies. Implement quality assurance processes and procedures, including documentation and reporting. Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to address quality-related concerns and implement corrective actions.
Safety and Risk Management

Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and promote a safe work environment. Conduct safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and risks. Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and implement preventive measures as appropriate.
Communication and Reporting

Communicate regularly with project managers, stakeholders, and team members to provide updates on project progress. Prepare and submit timely and accurate reports on construction activities, including progress, issues, and recommendations. Facilitate effective communication between team members, subcontractors, suppliers, and other project stakeholders. Keep detailed records of project documentation, including contracts, permits, change orders, and correspondence.
Cost Control and Budget Management

Monitor project costs and budgets, ensuring adherence to approved budgets. Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend value engineering options, without compromising quality or safety. Review and approve subcontractor and supplier invoices, verifying accuracy and adherence to contractual agreements. Collaborate with project managers to address budget variances and develop corrective actions.
Stakeholder Management

Establish and maintain positive relationships with clients, architects, engineers, and other project stakeholders. Address client concerns and inquiries promptly and professionally. Coordinate and facilitate meetings with stakeholders to provide project updates and address any issues or changes.

Requirements

Diploma / Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field. 3 - 5 years of experience in the construction environment.

Leadership Skills

: Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a diverse team.

Technical Knowledge

: Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and local building codes. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Valid driver's license - Code 8. Ability to focus and keep calm under pressure. Ability to keep track of multiple projects. Good knowledge of the use of tools, materials, methods, and standard trade work and safety practices. Attention to detail.
