Job Description


RPO Recruitment is currently seeking a Construction SHE (Safety, Health, and Environment) Officer to join our client's team. As a Construction SHE Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of all workers on construction sites. You will be responsible for implementing safety policies and procedures, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement safety programs and policies to ensure a safe work environment
  • Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations
  • Investigate accidents and incidents and develop appropriate corrective actions to prevent recurrence
  • Provide safety training to all construction workers and ensure that they are aware of and adhere to safety procedures
  • Maintain accurate documentation of safety inspections, incidents, and training records
  • Monitor subcontractors and suppliers to ensure compliance with safety standards
  • Stay updated on new safety regulations and industry best practices
  • Collaborate with project managers and site supervisors to ensure that safety requirements are met during construction projects
Requirements:
  • Must have completed Grade 12 / Matric.
  • Samtrac or equivalent (National Diploma would be an advantage).
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.
  • Working knowledge of OHS Act and Construction Regulations 2014.
  • A sound understanding of the workings of COIDA.
  • Good understanding and ability to conduct risk assessments, method statements, toolbox talks and implementation of company safety policies.
  • Good knowledge and ability to manage multiple sub-contractors.
  • Good understanding and ability to understand and implement requirements contained in a EMP.
  • SACPCMP registration (good standing must be current) is a prerequisite.
  • Good Administrative skills.
  • Must be computer literate (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Valid code 08 Driverxe2x80x99s license and property vehicle.
  • Must be based in Cape Town.
  • Minimum 5 yearsxe2x80x99 on-site SHE working experience in the built environment.
  • Accident investigation.
  • Working at heights and fall protection plan implementation (would be advantageous).
  • Able to work independently and without supervision.
  • Must be reliable, accountable, honest and of sober habits.
