About the Role
We are seeking a Construction Manager with proven expertise in renewable energy infrastructure to lead on-site construction activities for a utility-scale solar PV project. Based in De Aar, the successful candidate will play a central role in coordinating cross-functional teams, maintaining safety and quality compliance, and ensuring timely delivery within budget.
This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute meaningfully to South Africa's renewable energy transition under one of the most respected IPPs on the continent.
Key Responsibilities
Project Execution & Oversight
Oversee daily site construction activities and ensure adherence to technical specifications
Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of construction schedules and deliverables
Supervise contractors, technicians, and site staff to ensure safe and efficient operations
Safety & Quality Assurance
Enforce compliance with safety protocols, site rules, and relevant legislation
Conduct toolbox talks, site inspections, and quality checks
Resolve on-site quality issues and monitor installation performance
Stakeholder Engagement
Liaise with engineers, consultants, contractors, clients, and local authorities
Provide routine updates and escalate risks, delays, or challenges proactively
Chair construction progress meetings and contribute to solution development
Budget & Documentation
Monitor and control construction-related expenses and resources
Process claims, change orders, and payment certificates
Maintain accurate documentation, including progress reports, site diaries, and compliance logs
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil/Electrical , or similar
7+ years of construction management experience (minimum 3 years in renewable energy)
OR: Diploma + 15 years' relevant project/construction experience
Strong knowledge of solar PV, wind, or battery storage systems
Proven track record in leading large-scale EPC or IPP construction projects
Excellent leadership, team coordination, and stakeholder communication skills
Proficient in project management tools (MS Project, Primavera, etc.)
Valid driver's license and ability to work full-time on-site
