Introduction
Our client, a leading player in the mining and minerals sector, is seeking an experienced and hands-on Maintenance Manager to join their site operations in the Northern Cape. This role reports directly to the Head of Crushing and will oversee all maintenance activities across the crushing circuit and yellow equipment.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record in plant and equipment maintenance, leadership of maintenance teams, and optimising asset performance in a high-volume mining environment. This is a fixed-term contract position based on site.
Duties & Responsibilities
Lead and manage all maintenance activities across the crushing circuit, ensuring maximum equipment availability and efficiency.
Oversee the maintenance and repair of yellow equipment (earthmoving and mobile plant), ensuring compliance with OEM standards.
Develop and implement preventative maintenance plans, schedules, and reliability programs.
Manage maintenance teams, contractors, and service providers to ensure high-quality workmanship and safety compliance.
Analyse equipment performance data and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
Coordinate with operations to minimise downtime and production losses.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards and legal requirements.
Prepare and manage maintenance budgets, forecasts, and cost-control measures.
Drive asset management excellence through predictive maintenance and root cause analysis.
Support the Head of Crushing in strategic decision-making and technical problem-solving.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Minimum of 10 years' experience in maintenance management within the mining or mineral processing industry.
At least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role overseeing multidisciplinary maintenance teams.
Strong crushing plant circuit experience is essential.
Proven yellow equipment (earthmoving machinery) maintenance experience.
Relevant Mechanical or Electrical Trade Certificate / Diploma / Degree.
Sound knowledge of maintenance planning systems, safety management, and legal compliance in a mining environment.
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Strong focus on safety, reliability, and operational excellence.
