The Commis Chef will assist in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of high-quality dishes, ensuring that all food is produced to the highest standards of taste, presentation, and hygiene.
Assist with mise en place including preparing, cutting, and portioning ingredients.
Cook and plate dishes as instructed by senior chefs.
Support the kitchen team to ensure smooth and efficient food service.
Handle kitchen equipment safely and maintain cleanliness at all times.
Follow proper food storage, rotation, and waste management procedures.
Maintain food quality and presentation standards as directed by senior chefs.
Assist in stock receiving, storage, and monthly inventory counts .
Report equipment faults or maintenance issues promptly.
Attend training sessions and meetings as required.
Minimum 1 year of experience in a professional kitchen environment.
Basic knowledge of food preparation and service standards .
Matric certificate and a relevant culinary qualification required.
Strong time management, communication, and teamwork skills.
Ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
Preference given to candidates residing in Franschhoek or nearby areas.
