TB HIV Care (THC), in existence since 1929, is an internationally recognised non-profit organisation. We provide health care services throughout South Africa to both the general population and communities at increased risk for HIV and TB, including adolescent girls and young women, sex workers and people who use drugs. Purpose of the position:
Provision of life saving services in public health facilities and communities to establish high-quality, person-centered services for high-risk populations. In addition, tailored support for high- risk populations with treatment and prevention services
Minimum Requirements
Grade 12 / Matric
Degree / diploma in Primary Health Care or relevant Nursing qualification
2 years' experience in nursing after registration
Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Professional Nurse
NIMART trained
IMCI trained
Dispensing licence
Intermediate level computer (MS office) certificate
Proficiency in English & other african languages
Valid code 8 driver's licence
Clear criminal record
Knowledge and experience in a DREAMS or related programme a requirement
Duties and Responsibilities
Develops and maintains relationships with all government departments, sectors, implementing partners, facility managers, educators and learner representative organisations in identified clusters
Maps out CBOs and hots spots for mobilisation of high-risk population and sites for peer-led mobile services
Implements and maintains the HIV and TB testing services (HTS) programme and screens high risk population to identify vulnerable beneficiaries
Implements person -centred services for high-risk populations and facilitates referral as needed
Ensures appropriate navigation and referral of all new cases for psycho- social support and social worker interventions
Ensures case management strategy is implemented by community- based team (peer educator and enrolled nurse) to ensure beneficiaries of the programme remain in Care (RIC)
Submits weekly and monthly reports
Collaborates with Department of Basic Education (DBE), Department of Social Development (DSD), Department of Health (DoH) managers and community role-players to scale up person -centred package of services
Provides mentorship to team members
Adheres to Infection Prevention Control (IPC) standards
Minimises the risk of needle stick injuries by ensuring that all staff follow the recommended protocol
Implements the Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) protocol and ensures all staff adhere to the protocol
