Job Summary This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established private group of companies, with exposure to financial services, asset management, securities and stock market investments, property, hospitality, agriculture, game breeding, and the consumer sector. Reporting to the Director, you will lead a compact team accounting for the Groups finances, with your main responsibility to handle the accounting for investment transactions, loan and shareholder transactions, individual company accounts, consolidations, financial analysis and reporting. Taxation experience would an advantageous. This role offers a hybrid work model with 1-2 days per week spent in the office. Your value to the group will include: * Management of the finance function including liaison with directors, bankers, lawyers and other stakeholders regarding group financial matters * Management of finance staff in other jurisdictions * Management of the groups financial reporting processes * Preparation of individual company accounts from source documents to management accounts * Resolution of un-reconciled items and non-standard transaction treatment * Assistance with IFRS drafting of financials, exposure to other localised GAAP * Consolidation of group accounts * Preparation of schedules for the groups overall audit management to ensure an efficient and timeous process * Implementation of systems, processes and controls * Analysis of monthly and quarterly accounts for reporting purposes * Efficient reporting of KPIs and business metrics for management and control purposes * Analyse costs, pricing and variable contributions and measure against business plans and budgets * Tax calculations including deferred tax as well as tax optimisation * Assistance with preparation of annual budgets * Assistance with annual company audits * Drafting of agreements and documents * Inter-acting with banks regarding banking lines * Due diligence/feasibility studies Desired Skills & qualifications: * CA(SA) qualification * Articles completed a 1 of the big 4 audit firms preferable * 5 years experience in a financial accounting role at Group FM/CFO level * Knowledge of financial instruments, international exposure and experience in multi-currency accounting preferable * Working knowledge of all statutory legislation and regulations * Management of a Finance team with different skills and personalities * Ability to manage group level processes such as audits * Consolidation of accounts experience * Strong numeracy and excel skills, as well as practical experience with accounting systems (Xero, Pastel, Sage, VIP) * Self-motivated and disciplined with attention to detail * Must be able to multi-task, adhere to deadlines and be prepared to work overtime * Well spoken with strong communication skills across various local and international cultures * Taxation qualification and experience (including international) would favour the candidate
