CHEF DE PARTIE (CDP)

Job Duties & Requirements:

Strong leadership qualities and solid culinary knowledge to assist in managing the kitchen section assigned. Ability to work in a high-pressure environment and run a busy service confidently. Responsible for daily food preparation and duties assigned by supervisors while maintaining the restaurant's quality standards. Follow instructions and recommendations from immediate superiors to ensure smooth daily operations. Coordinate daily tasks with the Senior Chef. Estimate daily production needs and check the quality of raw and cooked food items to ensure standards are met. Ensure the production, preparation, and presentation of food are always of the highest quality. Maintain high levels of guest satisfaction, quality, and cost control. Knowledge of standard procedures and policies related to food preparation, receiving, storage, and sanitation. Full awareness of menu items, recipes, production methods, and presentation standards. Follow proper food handling and preservation standards, including temperature control. Operate and maintain all kitchen equipment and report any malfunctions. Ensure effective communication and maintain a secure, friendly working environment. Personally responsible for hygiene, safety, and correct use of equipment and utensils. Ability to complete tasks within deadlines and assist others to achieve the same. Periodically check expiry dates and ensure proper storage of section items. Consult daily with the Senior Chef regarding requirements, functions, and last-minute events. Guide and train subordinates daily to maintain motivation and cost-effective work habits. Set a strong example in personal hygiene and cleanliness on and off duty. Provide daily feedback and report issues as they arise. Ensure quality control and adhere to the restaurant's service standards. Perform any other duties as required by management.

Requirements:

Minimum 2-3 years' experience in a similar role Full-time, permanent position Must be able to commute or relocate to Cape Town, Western Cape English fluency required Availability for day shifts, night shifts, and double shifts
