Job Description


Our client, a leading investment company with a diversified portfolio of subsidiaries across various industries, are seeking to appoint a highly qualified Chartered Accountant with a strong background in multi-subsidiary environments and expertise in financial analysis, financial modelling, risk, and treasury management.

Position Overview:

You will play a pivotal role in overseeing the financial health and risk management of a diverse subsidiary portfolio. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement effective financial strategies, ensuring the long-term success and growth of the subsidiaries.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Analysis and Reporting:

  • Conduct comprehensive financial analyses for each subsidiary.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Monitor and analyze financial performance, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
Risk Management:
  • Assess and manage financial risks associated with subsidiary operations.
  • Develop risk mitigation strategies and monitor their effectiveness.
  • Implement internal controls and compliance measures to safeguard assets and financial data.
Treasury Management:
  • Manage cash flow and liquidity for the subsidiary portfolio.
  • Optimize capital allocation and investment strategies.
  • Oversee banking relationships, negotiate terms, and ensure efficient cash management.
Financial Planning and Strategy:
  • Collaborate with subsidiary management teams to develop and execute financial strategies.
  • Provide insights and recommendations for improving financial performance and profitability.
  • Participate in strategic decision-making processes related to mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures.
Audit and Compliance:
  • Coordinate external audits and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and documentation.
  • Stay up-to-date with accounting standards and regulations.
Financial Modelling:
  • Create sophisticated financial models to support strategic decision-making, including valuation, scenario analysis, and investment appraisal.
  • Develop dynamic models to assess subsidiary performance under various economic scenarios.
  • Collaborate with teams to develop financial forecasts and budgets.
Qualifications and experience:
  • Chartered Accountant CA(SA) certification is mandatory.
  • Proven experience working in a multi-subsidiary environment, ideally within an investment company.
  • Strong financial analysis, reporting, and modelling skills.
  • Expertise in risk assessment and management.
  • Treasury management experience, including cash flow forecasting and investment strategies.
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and compliance.
  • Proficiency in financial software and tools (e.g., ERP systems, financial modelling software).
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
