The Chef de Partie is responsible for running a designated section of the kitchen independently, ensuring that mise en place, preparation, cooking, and plating are carried out to the highest standard. They play a key role in maintaining quality and consistency during service and support the training of junior chefs.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
Run a designated section independently during service
Prepare, cook, and present menu items to the required standards
Maintain mise en place levels, ensuring readiness and minimising waste
Train, guide, and supervise Demi Chefs and Commis in the section
Ensure correct storage, labelling, and rotation of ingredients to maintain freshness and
food cost control
Monitor section stock levels and communicate orders to the Sous Chef as required
Uphold food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness standards in line with the restaurant's internal system
Support smooth service through clear communication with other sections and the pass
Take responsibility for section handovers and ensure continuity between shifts
Contribute to menu development by providing feedback and ideas under the guidance of senior chefs
Required Skills, Qualifications & Experience:
Minimum 3 years' professional kitchen experience with at least 1 year as Demi Chef de Partie or equivalent
Formal culinary training (preferred) or proven experience in a professional kitchen environment
Strong technical cooking skills across multiple sections
Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail
Ability to train and supervise junior staff effectively
Calm, reliable, and efficient under pressure
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Working Conditions, Hours & Expectations:
Full-time position, 6 days per week with 1 scheduled day off
Shifts include evenings, weekends, and public holidays as per service needs
Work requires standing for extended periods and handling of sharp, heavy, or hot kitchen equipment
