Category Manager: Liquor Marketing ~ Procurement ~ Supply Chain
Durban - KwaZulu Natal - South Africa

Our client, one of South Africa's favourites, is looking for a Category Manager for their Liquor division in Durban, to develop & promote the brand through KZN & to maximise profitability in the liquor stores subject to the marketing policy by being in stock of the right product, in the right quantity, at the right price, to achieve targeted sales, gross profit & budgeted stock levels.

Requirements:

• Marketing or Purchasing related Degree/Diploma
• 5 years' buying experience
• Knowledge of FMCG Marketing
• Extensive management experience in trading in the liquor industry
• Thorough knowledge of buying systems and processes essential
• Good Negotiating, communication and interpersonal skills
• Thrives on challenge and a pressurized/demanding work environment
• Strong drive, initiative, sense of urgency and use of innovation to resolve business challenges.
• Must have leadership skills and proven record recognising the coaching, mentoring and training of fellow team members.

Key Performance Areas:

• Negotiating with Sales Representatives from Suppliers and maintaining comprehensive records of all transactions with Suppliers.
• Negotiating deals and prices to achieve competitive retail prices and budgeted gross profit
• Assisting retailers with store standards, specs, ranging, pricing and promotions.
• Achieving targeted sales, stock and GPs while minimizing out of stocks
• Managing stock levels and service levels against sales and budgets.
• Managing product ranges within specified product categories
• Managing promotions and ability to drive sales to retailers
