Our client has positioned itself as a notable distributor of fresh and perishable commodities, over the last four decades. They are actively involved in improving, overseeing, and optimizing the supply chain procedures for fresh agricultural goods within the South African market.

The successful incumbent will report to the Supply Chain Manager and assume responsibility in optimizing the sourcing, management, and strategic development of specific product categories within the realm of fruits, vegetables, and other agricultural products, identify and establish relationships with suppliers and growers to ensure a consistent and high-quality supply of fresh produce. Negotiate terms, prices, and contracts while maintaining strong partnerships, monitor inventory levels to ensure an appropriate balance between supply and demand. Minimize wastage and spoilage by implementing effective inventory control measures, use historical data and market insights to forecast demand for different types of fresh produce. Plan procurement and distribution accordingly to avoid shortages or overstock situations.

Job Experience and Skills Required:

• Degree in Industrial Engineering / Supply Chain Management
• 5 years of relevant experience in procurement, sourcing, inventory management, or category management within the fresh produce or agricultural sector.
• Must have an understanding of food safety regulations, labelling requirements, and industry standards applicable to fresh produce products.
• Must have a relevant software and tools, including inventory management systems, data analytics software
