About the team
Operations Technology implement, enhance and support the applications and solutions that power our operational teams. A multi-disciplined group of software engineers, technical analysts and subject matter experts supporting third party vendor products as well as in house developed applications and services. We are a team who strive for operational excellence, seeking to reduce complexity and improve efficiency to enable teams to focus on high value work in an ecosystem that continuously evolves in partnership with Operations.


Following the successful transition to the State Street Alpha platform and the Charles River Investment Management System (CRIMS), both of which are strategic platforms within Ninety One, we are seeking a CRD Technical Lead to manage the technical CRD team within Operations Technology. Working with our broader business partners to deliver incremental improvements and enhancements to the platform alongside the provision of excellent support and service.


We are looking for a proven Charles River Development (CRD) Lead to take ownership of an existing technical team driving the continuous evolution of the Charles River Investment Management System (CRIMS). This role is more than just oversight -- it's about setting the roadmap, providing strong management to the team and driving continuous improvement and delivery of value end to end. As a hands-on technical leader, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our investment platform, influencing stakeholders at all levels, and delivering tangible business impact in a highly visible position.
In this role you will:

+ Lead the CRD technical team, providing technical and functional direction.
+ Act as the primary liaison between business partners, technology, and vendors
+ Ensure alignment with strategic platforms, governance, and compliance standards
+ Work with senior members of Implementation, Trading, Compliance, and Operations to capture requirements and translate them into prioritised delivery roadmaps
+ Visibly take ownership of the design, integration, support and delivery of enhancements, upgrades, and patches in line with agreed roadmaps
+ Active management of integrations between CRD and other systems maintaining data integrity and consistency across platforms
+ Provide subject matter expertise on CRD functionality, workflows, and reporting.
+ Proactive management and coaching of the CRD technical team
+ Build strong partnerships with Charles River and third-party vendors and ensure vendor deliverables meet quality and timeliness expectations
+ Work collaboratively with other technical teams to ensure optimal technical solutions within the broader IT architecture.
You should consider applying if you have:

+ Strong knowledge of Charles River IMS (Order Management, Trading, Compliance, Post-Trade workflows)
+ Experience with CRD APIs, FIX protocols, Trading venues and integration technologies.
+ Proficiency in SQL, data modelling, and reporting tools.
+ Deep understanding of investment management processes across asset classes (Equities, Fixed Income, Derivatives, FX)
+ Proven experience leading system development and support teams.
+ Track record of delivering complex system implementations and upgrades.
+ Hands on, strong communicator with a sense of urgency and ability to build solid relationships with partners and stakeholders.
+ Adept at balancing long-term platform thinking with short-term delivery priorities.
