What you'll be doing (and why you'll enjoy it) You'll take the lead on originating and securing large-scale energy projects (1MW+), spanning Southern, Eastern, and West Africa. From identifying and developing new opportunities to negotiating commercial terms and bringing projects to financial close, you'll own the full business development cycle. You'll build strong relationships with developers, funders, EPCs, and municipalities, while also keeping a close eye on market and regulatory trends. Your insights will shape country entry strategies and support the company's P&L and margin objectives.
Where you'll be doing it Our client is a dynamic, fast-growing leader in renewable energy, supplying solar panels, inverters, and batteries to residential, commercial, and industrial clients. Based in Midrand, Johannesburg, they've built a strong footprint in both solar solutions and energy financing, playing a pivotal role in Africa's energy transition. What you'll need You'll bring at least 8 years' experience in business development or project sales within the energy or infrastructure sectors. A proven track record of closing multi-million-dollar energy deals in Africa is essential, along with strong networks across ministries, developers, and financiers. You'll need excellent commercial acumen, presentation skills, and fluency in English - French or Portuguese would be a major plus. Experience in solar, storage, or hybrid systems and leading multicultural teams will also set you apart.
