Building Maintenance Supervisor

Job Description


The building supervisor is responsible for maintaining the plant building, grounds, the plumbing system, managing employees, coordinating work schedules.

SPAN OF CONTROL

The role reports to the Electrical and Utilities Manager.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND OUTPUTS

  • Maintaining the building and facilities
  • Supervise the building assistants.
  • Assess maintenance and repair needs for the roofing, plumbing and building.
  • Carry out maintenance on buildings, floors, walls, ceilings, doors, windows and locks
  • Daily inspection of toilets for leaks
  • Working on projects on their own
  • Complete the logbook and time sheets.
  • Fill in job card and signed them off.
  • Working with power tools
  • Delegate task to assistants
  • Report hazards in the plant
  • Effective working relationship with department managers
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards.
  • Plan, organise and control project.
  • Good knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, building and roof repairs
  • Able to plan and carry out maintenance in the plant
  • Attention to detail.
  • Inspection of the plumbing installation, condition of the building structure, condition of the factory roofs and cladding, building structure
  • Work to building code.
  • Understand laws, regulation, and standards.
  • Manage labour.
Engineering Management- Deep Focus
  • Maintenance, Repairs and Projects:
  • Attend to building and plumbing breakdown in the plant.
  • Ensure building and equipment are in a good condition.
  • Minimize downtime and wastage.
  • Ensure work is done within budgets and on time with good quality.
  • Carry out planned and preventative on all building and plumbing equipment.
  • Continuous improvement of the facility, roads, and grounds
  • Provide service to the plant.
  • Spares are available.
  • Monitor water losses and wastages.

Stakeholder relationship * Liaise with departmental managers, supervisors, and staff.

Reporting and Documentation * Report to manager or supervisor on any building issues regarding potential breakdowns, spares, quality, projects, hazards , breakdowns and maintenance
  • Report all breakdown , time taken, machine that was affected, what was done to get plant up and running
  • Plan job correctly to reduce wastage and over ordering of spares
  • Fill in all job card correctly with the actual time taken and spares used
  • Fill in monthly time sheet.
Safety, Health, Environment xe2x80x93 We Tread Softy
  • Manage activities that ensure compliance with applicable safety, health and environment legislation and audit requirements.
  • Ensure housekeeping is kept to 5S standards.
  • ensure all areas in the plant is kept clear of waste and is clean.
  • Dispose of waste properly.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Grade 12 / Matric with a pass in Maths/Maths Lit and English.
  • Have at least 5 years good knowledge and experience in building maintenance, plumbing, painting, carpentry, building and roof repairs.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Knowledge and experience in building maintenance, plumbing, painting, carpentry, building and roof repairs.
  • Understand laws,regulations, and standards of safety measures within engineering.
Knowledge of working with power tools.

  • Have at least 5 years good knowledge and experience in building maintenance, plumbing, painting, carpentry, building and roof repairs.
