Introduction

Founded in 1992 by Costa and Desiree Airaga, Desco Electronic Recyclers is an established, environmentally responsible and accredited recycler of electronic waste situated in Kempton Park.

Our services are offered to the public, small/medium enterprises (SME) and large corporations. We also provide services to government, educational and medical institutions.

We are proud of our clean, technological advanced facility and we encourage our clients and partners to come and visit us.

Desco benchmarks against processes across world-wide boundaries, according to sustainable technological innovation and processes, specifically those linked to E-Waste.

Our head office and processing plant is situated in Pomona, Gauteng.

Duties & Responsibilities

Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures

Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements

Set up components for welding according to specifications

Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces

Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead)

Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps

Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws

A person with an eye on artistic ways of building structures

. Knowledge of building Stairs, Balustrades, Convayors, Crushers, Hoppers

Know how to build Gates and Carports

Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded

Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws

Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety

Risk Assessments and Pre-Checklist of Equipment

Attention to detail and Good Housekeeping Standards

Desired Experience & Qualification

Proven experience as welder/boilermaker with Red Seal (Trade Test)

Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (TIG, MIG, Oxy Acetylene etc.)

Experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, calipers etc.)

Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings

Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves etc.)

Deftness and attention to detail

Proficient in English and Mathematical and AutoCAD

Successful completion of a relevant apprenticeship program is required

Professional Certification will be a plus
