Job Description

Highly skilled and trade-tested Boilermaker with 10 years' experience in stainless steel and mild steel fabrication, structural work, and the design, assembly, installation, and maintenance of industrial equipment. Proven track record working in chemical manufacturing environments, adhering to strict safety, quality, and plant operational standards.

Key Responsibilities



Fabricate, assemble, and repair stainless steel and mild steel components, vessels, chutes, piping, frames, tanks, and structural parts. Design, read, and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and fabrication sketches for project planning and execution. Install mechanical equipment, piping systems, platforms, conveyors, and production line components. Conduct welding using SMAW, GTAW/TIG, GMAW/MIG, and flux-core processes on stainless steel and carbon steel materials. Carry out planned and corrective maintenance on plant equipment such as pressure vessels, pumps, heat exchangers, chemical reactors, storage tanks, and structural supports. Perform site measurements, prepare material cutting lists, and ensure fabrication accuracy according to quality standards. Inspect, test, and assess equipment integrity in compliance with chemical plant safety requirements and SANS standards. Collaborate with engineering, production, and maintenance teams to troubleshoot plant equipment and minimise downtime. Ensure compliance with OHSA, chemical plant safety protocols, permit-to-work systems, and lockout/tagout procedures. Maintain tools, equipment, and workshop area, ensuring a clean and safe working environment.

Advanced stainless steel and mild steel fabrication and welding Ability to design and fabricate from drawings with high precision Installation of mechanical and structural systems Strong knowledge of chemical plant operations and safety standards Pressure vessel and tank fabrication experience Excellent fault-finding and maintenance capability Strong adherence to safety, quality, and production timelines Ability to supervise small teams and coordinate onsite work

Qualifications & Certifications



Trade Test: Boilermaker (Red Seal) Matric / N2-N4 Engineering Studies (preferred) Certified in welding processes (TIG/MIG/Stick) - optional Safety training (HIRA, Working at Heights, Confined Spaces) - advantageous

Job Type: Temporary
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: R100,00 - R140,00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Work Location: In person
