Make manual adjustments to the coal fired boiler to ensure that the boiler produce steam constantly at a pressure of 10 bar maximum, but not lower than 9 bar.
To visually inspect all working parts of the complete system, which includes the steam valves and header pipes and water treatment system, for proper and safe operation.
To notify the maintenance supervisor immediately of any faults that is detected.
Record all instances and requirements in the boiler log book.
To load coal into the feed bin when required.
To work shifts as determined by the company to ensure continuous attendance at the boiler.
To perform minor repair work such as replacement of sight glasses, tightening of bolts etc
To assist the artisans when maintenance work is performed at the boiler.
To inform his supervisor when coal deposit in the bunker is low.
To keep all equipment and inside the building clean at all times.
To be available to the maintenance supervisor for general maintenance duties when the boiler is not operated.
EXPERIENCE
36 months experience on a John Thompson 3 Ton coal fired boiler
QUALIFICATIONS
Grade 12
Certification as Boiler Operator - Training received by approved authority, and in procession of a valid Boiler Operator Certificate
Must reside in Daveyton/Etwatwa/Barcelona or KwaThema/Duduza/Tsakane for transport purposes.
