Family does need some flexibility around the end time (in case of a meeting, running late due to traffic, etc)
From 2026 - the candidate might need to collect the youngest child from school at 12:00 (2 times per week) - this will be discussed and, additional working hours will be compensated.
Family would like the candidate to stay at home with the children during the duration of parent's travel. This will not be over 5 days in a row unless it is an emergency (extra working hours will be compensated). This will be organised in advance with the candidate.
School Holidays:
Same hours as above (preferred for candidate to stay available FULL day {Mon - Fri: 09h00 - 18h00 & Alternating Saturdays: 09h00 - 16:00} The extra hours will be paid additionally)
Duties:
All childcare duties. Collect from school and take them to extra-murals. Planning (in advance) for doing outdoor fun activities with children. Get them active. Plan indoor play. Planning fun based activities in advance especially when it's a rainy day. Organising play dates. Doing school homework in a fun way, keeping a check on children's progress and updating the parents. Making sure of children's upkeep, trimming their nails, giving them a bath, schedule haircuts when needed, general hygiene. When children are back from school - ensure that they change into their home clothes and their uniforms are put for washing and, also make sure the school uniform is sorted for the next day. Do organise snacks when they come home, something a child would like. Have children's school bag ready for the next day. Ensure good communication and playfulness with both kids. Establishing good connection and communication with kids, they need to be looking forward to being with an Au Pair. The person needs to be responsible, honest, need to communicate re children's day/school homework on a daily basis and be flexible as with kids things and responsibilities can change as per their need. Taking the kids to the doctor if and when needed. Groceries for the house as and when needed, organise child-related stuff or any general assistance that might be required for the house/child. Report on a daily basis to share progress on each child. Flexibility is the key as it is not possible to state all and also, with kids they need to be willing to do the work and gently guide them towards helping them being more independent.
Special Requirements:
Female, English, Afrikaans (other languages = bonus), experience with the age group, someone to become a part of the family (long term commitment), someone active, who can play and run around with children. Long holidays need to be planned with the employer in advance and the same goes for general leaves. This is a permanent job, full day job. Should know how to drive an automatic, should the employee need to drive the employers car on day.
