Job Purpose

To sustainably grow the Property Finance Africa Lending Business by acquiring new clients and also building on relationships with existing clients. The role involves the structuring of transactions navigating various jurisdictions and complexities. To continue to build Nedbank Property Finance Africaxe2x80x99s reputation in the market with the aim of positioning Nedbank as the leading financial institution in the African property market through innovative deal making and product structuring.

Job Responsibilities

  • Achieve financial and business results set by management
  • Support the Senior Associates and Principals in the full transaction/client lifecycle: from origination to implementation and review / maintenance thus achieving financial targets.
  • Support in the origination of transactions via researching, analysing investment proposals, unpacking complexities in various market and legal environments, financial modelling and returns analysis. Identify new business opportunities within different divisions of Nedbank.
  • Continuously look for creative approaches for origination and solutioning for our clients within applicable risk parameters.
  • Support effective execution of transactions and maintenance of the book (thereby enhancing our clientxe2x80x99s experience of Nedbank) via:
  • Screening of clients including assisting with the preparation of enhanced due diligence reviews of clients and transactions;
  • Preparation of credit papers (applications, memos, updates, reviews) by conducting historical financial analysis, financial modelling & debt scoping with related commentary, industry, market & competitor analysis.
  • Continuously evaluate and mitigate the credit risk embedded within the environment and deals to optimise return vs risk;
  • Assisting in the early management of impairments via continuous interaction with clients and internal stakeholders, engagement on improved recovery practices and processes;
  • Assisting with the preparation of term sheets to effectively capture relevant approvals, provide support in legal negotiations, review of legal documents by cross referencing approved terms sheets and ensure incorporation of all other commercial terms in the legal documents;
  • Manage development loans process, i.e. draws, stakeholder engagements to meet client's requirements;
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients by demonstrating understanding of client needs, regular engagement/communication, acting on feedback and delivering on client expectations with the aim to attract and retain client base and optimise business opportunities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders through collaboration, information sharing and giving and receiving feedback.
  • Adhere to internal compliance standards and external regulatory requirements in all transactions and opportunities and in all business conduct.
  • Operate in complex and unstructured environments and to drive initiatives. Seek opportunities to improve business processes and systems by identifying and recommending effective ways to operate, reduce risk and add value to Nedbank.
  • Contribute positively to the Nedbank culture and inspire delivery of our purpose of using our financial expertise to do good and in so doing, drive greater impact in society
Minimum Experience Level
  • 2 - 5 years deal structuring (including financial modelling) experience in Property Finance / Investment Banking / other appropriate client-facing environments
  • 2 - 5 years' experience in sales and client acquisition in an Investment Banking / Commercial Property Finance/ other appropriate front office environments
  • 2 - 5 years' experience in sales and client acquisition in a Commercial Property Finance environment
  • Knowledge related to Investment Banking products and formulating wholistic solutions for clients
Essential Qualifications - NQF Level
  • BCom (Accounting/Finance) or BSc in Property Studies or similar degree
  • Honours or Post-graduate qualification would be an advantage
Preferred Certifications
  • CA(SA) or CFA
